IWG Smart Collaborative Factory, Creating a Digital Innovation Benchmark for the Supply Chain Having been established for 25 years, IWG has gained a pivotal position in the industry and market, supported by two development phases: "winning through service" and "production-research integration". As people's aspirations for better homes continue rising, IWG discovered that home furnishing enterprises urgently need to enhance their market service capabilities by building high-quality supply chains, but supply chains clearly face issues such as lagging R&D, insufficient intelligence, and weak service capabilities. To address this, IWG embarked on a "3.0 transformation and upgrading path", dedicated to enhancing supply chain smart collaborative capabilities to provide more excellent service to home furnishing enterprises. The preparation and commissioning of the smart collaborative factory represent the implementation of this innovative strategy.

The IWG Huangdao Smart Collaborative Factory is located in the Qingdao National-Level High-Tech Chemical Industrial Park, with a total investment of 540 million RMB and an annual production capacity of 260,000 tons. It serves as both an R&D and production base, and a support center for innovative service models. By utilizing IoT and big data tools for intelligent detection and analysis, it has achieved unmanned, automated integrated production. Its established service model of intelligent analysis and "proactive solutions" sets a new benchmark for digital intelligence in the adhesive industry, building a new era of data collaboration. It is reported that the smart collaborative factory requires only 120 personnel at full capacity, which clearly demonstrates its high level of intelligence.

The IWG Huangdao Smart Collaborative Factory project is constructed in two phases: Phase one main buildings include Workshop 1, Workshop 2, Workshop 3, warehouse, maintenance room, sewage treatment facilities, fire protection facilities, waste gas treatment devices, and R&D center office building; Phase two main buildings include the water-based adhesive workshop, packaging workshop, and automated warehouse. Workshop 1 is a hot melt adhesive production workshop, which has achieved automated docking with the automated warehouse, automated control of key equipment, and automated collaboration across multiple workshops for product filling, packaging, in-plant transportation, palletizing, and automated warehousing.

Workshop 2 is a water-based adhesive production workshop. Using an advanced DCS control system as its command center, it can timely detect, monitor, and feedback-control production facilities, ensuring process safety, feeding precision, and production process traceability, thereby guaranteeing product quality stability and consistency.

The production command center, located within the R&D center office building, combines smart large screens with the DCS control room, possessing five key capabilities: data display and risk early warning capability; data mining and drill-down capability; scheduling capability for factory personnel and equipment resources; command prediction and simulation capability; and reverse control capability for the production site.

The R&D center achieves integrated production-research collaborative R&D, enabling qualitative and quantitative analysis from raw materials to products using professional analytical instruments, continuously breaking through technical bottlenecks and achieving achievement transformation. It can seamlessly connect to customer needs for product and raw material customized R&D, both now and in the future, including eco-friendly, moisture-proof, odorless products, and antibacterial functions.

The automated warehouse, with a storage capacity of nearly 9,000 tons, utilizes advanced racking, stacker cranes, conveyors, and WMS, WCS software and hardware control systems. It has achieved automated product warehousing and can enable 24/7 supply availability.

IWG stated that in the future, it will rely on its four major R&D centers in Singapore, Guangzhou, Laixi, and Huangdao to further open up the supply chain for core raw materials, enhancing its rapid response capability and cost control ability for new products and services for domestic and international customers. By building and upgrading smart collaborative capabilities in the supply chain, the IWG Smart Collaborative Factory will empower the development of the customized home furnishing industry with stronger energy.
