Five Key Elements of Hot Melt Adhesive Application: Professional Insights from Winstrong Hot Melt Ad
What are the five key factors for using hot melt adhesive and what should you watch out for? Let Yongtenai explain.

What are the five key factors for using hot melt adhesive and what should you pay attention to? Let Winternice explain them for you.
1. Confirm the working temperature matches the manufacturer's required temperature
Since hot melt adhesive is categorized into high-temperature, medium-temperature, and low-temperature types, the appropriate temperature-rated hot melt adhesive must be recommended based on the customer's machine operating temperature, to meet the machine's operational requirements and achieve the customer's usage standards.
2. Clean the glue melting tank regularly
Due to prolonged operation, residual glue will accumulate in the glue melting tank of the edge banding machine. If not cleaned regularly, glue charring can occur, affecting the edge banding quality and leading to potential losses.
3. The glue application device should avoid drafts
After the hot melt adhesive melts and flows out of the glue tank during the bonding process, if there is a draft passing through, it can instantly lower the adhesive's temperature, causing a barely noticeable curing phenomenon. This reduces the adhesive's viscosity and strength, affecting the edge banding result. Therefore, the placement of the glue application device should avoid areas where drafts pass.
4. Wood moisture content should be below 10%, and temperature should be above 15°C
If the wood moisture content is too high or too low, or if the temperature is too low, it will lower the adhesive temperature, causing a slight curing phenomenon, affecting the adhesive's bond strength and reducing viscosity, leading to delamination.
5. Keep edge banding materials free from dust
Dust is often unavoidable in the operating environment itself. If the edge banding material also carries dust, it will inadvertently create gaps between the adhesive and the material, preventing full bonding, affecting edge banding strength, and leading to delamination.
