Common Problem Analysis
After inlaying a 10mm solid wood edge and then hot pressing veneer, after painting, there will be solid wood edge marks. How to solve this?
Solution
• Control the moisture content of the solid wood edge within 10% to manage its shrinkage and expansion rates;
• After inlaying the solid wood edge, the thickness of the face veneer must be at least 1mm or above to prevent the above issue. The specific approach is to first laminate a layer of miscellaneous wood veneer, then apply the face veneer to increase the covering thickness, or first laminate a layer of balancing board about 1mm thick before applying the face veneer.
When edge banding light-colored desktops with PVC edge banding, there is always a very obvious glue line at the joint. How to solve this?
Cause of Problem
• The color of the glue is not completely close to the color of the edge banding and panel, and the inherent color difference leads to an obvious glue line or black glue line;
• Too much glue applied during edge banding or the glue's own viscosity is too high, causing a thick glue line at the joint where the glue line layer is clearly visible;
• Panel edge chipping issues caused by cutting tools when cutting the panel can also show an obvious glue line;
• The glue's open time is too long; after edge banding and applying pressure, the edge banding slightly rebounds, also showing a visibly thicker joint line.
Solution
• Test and use hot melt adhesive products with colors that closely match the panel and edge banding color, or use laser edge banding technology;
• Select glue parameters that completely match the equipment control parameters, adjusting the glue application amount to just meet the process standard for tensile strength;
• Ensure the cutting tools for panel cutting are normally sharp, so the cut edges have no chipping defects;
• Select adhesive products suitable for the processing speed of the edge banding machine, ensuring an open time that allows the glue to basically solidify after passing the pressure roller.
