Common problem analysis

After sealing the PVC edge and applying paint, the edge may peel or crack

Root cause

• The edge glue line of the wooden seal is too thick or has pinholes;

• The paint is too corrosive or there are defects in the process;

• The solvent resistance of the adhesive is poor;

Solution

• Adjust the equipment to reasonably control the amount of glue applied;

• When making a sealed bottom, try to choose a spraying method or use less corrosive paint for sealing;

• Adhesive with good solvent resistance such as 88050.APAO.PUR can be selected;

Root cause

• The glue operation temperature is too high, and the temperature resistance of PVC edge banding is too poor. At this temperature, it will shrink and deform.

Solution

• Choose adhesive SH31100 with lower operating temperature, while controlling the coating amount or using better edge banding.

What is the reason why all solid wood 45 degree door cabinets are prone to cracking when assembled?

Root cause

• The high moisture content of solid wood leads to high shrinkage and tensile strength, resulting in cracking;

• 45 degree structural assembly, where the bonding area of the structure is too small and the strength of the bonding structure is less than the change in structural stress;

• A well made solid wood cabinet that has been left in a damp environment for too long will regain moisture, causing increased stress and cracking;

• The selected adhesive has insufficient strength to meet the structural strength requirements.

Solution

• Strictly control the moisture content of solid wood within the range of 8% -10% to control the small stress changes of solid wood;

• The 45 degree assembly of solid wood cabinets must be structurally safe, and it is recommended to use a combination of tongue and tenon structures with a large bonding surface to ensure the strength of the bonding structure;

• Paint and seal the well made solid wood cabinet as soon as possible to prevent it from getting damp or having high moisture content. Applying anti cracking oil after the white cabinet is made can better ensure the stability of the solid wood cabinet's properties;

• When assembling solid wood cabinets at a 45 degree angle, it is necessary to use adhesives with at least D3 waterproof grade or epoxy resin adhesive or high solid content PU adhesive to ensure the bonding strength of the process structure.
