When applying glue, pay attention to the five tips to avoid many problems. What are the ways to apply glue in the operation process, and what are the differences between these methods? Hot melt adhesive supplier IWG, please introduce the commonly used coating methods in production.

IWG will explain to you the common application methods of woodworking glue

The commonly used glue coating methods in production include brushing glue, scraping glue, spraying glue, dipping glue, injecting glue, leaking glue, and rolling glue. For the glue film, it can be applied before the solvent is completely evaporated and then rolled. The glue powder can be sprinkled on the heated adhesive surface.

Glue brushing:It is to use a brush (or glass rod) to apply the adhesive solution from the center to the four sides onto the entire bonding surface, or in one direction, without reciprocating and at a slow speed to prevent the formation of bubbles. Try to apply it evenly and consistently.

Squeegee:It is to use a scraper to apply high viscosity adhesive or paste adhesive on the surface of the adhesive, and it should be scraped flat and evenly.

Spray adhesive:It is a special glue gun that uses dry compressed air to spray the glue solution onto the bonding surface. The glue layer is uniform and efficient, suitable for large-scale bonding and production.

Dip coating:Immerse the bonded area in the adhesive solution, hang the adhesive solution on it, and use it for fixing screws and bonding the ends of rods or plates.

Glue injection:Inject the adhesive solution into the bonding gap with a syringe, suitable for spot welding before injection.

Resin leakage:The adhesive liquid is evenly and continuously leaked from the small mouth of the storage container onto the bonding surface, with high efficiency, good quality, and suitable for continuous production.

Rolling glue: When applying glue on the surface of wide and flat objects, it is more convenient to use rubber rollers. The glue liquid is of good quality, simple operation and high efficiency. The rubber rollers are usually made of porous adsorption materials such as wool, foam plastic and sponge rubber. These types of rollers are prone to corrosion and deformation due to long-term contact with solvent based adhesives, making them more suitable for rolling latex water-based adhesives. When operating, roll the adhesive on a flat plate first, then apply slight pressure, and then cover the surface of the adhesive.

The adhesive film applied by rolling is relatively uniform without any sagging phenomenon, but the edges and corners are not easy to roll and need to be repaired with a brush.
